As the October curator for the ARTHOUSE on R Gallery, I’m thrilled to announce our next exhibition featuring the work of Bahiya Spaulding is opening this weekend!

Bahiya’s new body of work combines sculptures and paintings inspired by ancient archaeology and sci-fi, imagining artifacts that bridge past and future.

I just finished the install and I'm LOVING ALL OF HER NEW WORK!

3 Reasons To Stop in And Enjoy The Art:

🎨1. The large acrylic paintings use a very rare black paint that absorbs 99% of light. It's the darkest black paint available, and it's not something you can pick up at Blick or order from Amazon.

It's patented and special order only. It creates black areas that are velvety and super rich. These paintings literally swallow light.

🎨2. The watercolors are made using natural pigments. I love knowing that they're colors from the earth. And, they're gorgeous!

🎨3. Many of Bahiya's sculptures are made using raku firing. Some use a special saggar firing technique that creates really neat, earthy colors where you can see marks left behind from the kiln firing process. This really lends to the feeling that each piece is some kind of a relic.

✨ As the curator who's been working with Bahiya over the last 5-6 months on this exhibit, it's been a labor of love. She really stepped up and made many great new pieces for this exhibit.

Almost all the pieces are available for sale. Many are small and affordable 'modern relics' that are so delightful to give as a gift or to spark some interest on your favorite shelf or windowsill.

Please join me in celebrating and enjoying the Modern Relics exhibition this weekend and throughout the month! for more about her work you can find Bahiya’s website here and her Instagram feed here.

🖼️And, I'll be in a NEW STUDIO this Month!🎉

Yes, you read that right. I'm now sharing Studio #4 with Jill Stafford. So come see the new digs. I'm doing an art giveaway to celebrate! When you stop by, add your name to the woven basket to enter.☺️
