Join local artist, Kate Farrall (that’s me!), for a creative afternoon of stitching on paper—a unique and personal way to make art. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to “draw” using thread, transforming simple designs into textured, dimensional artworks on paper. The surprising combination of thread and paper brings a fresh and tactile twist to your artwork, turning everyday materials into something elevated.
This is a relaxed, beginner-friendly experience that invites play, exploration, and a bit of unconventional creativity. You'll leave with your own abstract embroidered paper piece, a frame for it, and the know-how to frame it beautifully.
You'll learn:
How to create your own abstract design so you can dive right into stitching
A simple way to tie knots in your thread without frustration
How to patch rips in the paper so you don't have to start over
How to frame your new piece into a ready-to-hang piece
About the Artist: Kate Farrall is a Sacramento fine artist who creates abstract paintings, painted paper collages, and paper sculptures and weavings that often include hand sewing. She holds an MFA in Photography from California College of the Arts, and loves to get humans excited and inspired to make things.
